The origins of naturism
The practice of naturism is nothing new; its roots go back to the 17th century.
It was the manifestation of a desire to improve overall health through the benefits of the sun on the body. Then, little by little, over the years and through the generations, health and holidays came to embrace each other, leading so-called health naturism to become leisure naturism.
Created in 2001 under the name France Espaces Naturistes, naturisme.fr is a group of naturist campsites and naturist holiday villages whose aim is to defend and promote the idea and concept of naturist holidays in FRANCE in areas that respect healthy, family naturism.
Made up of campsites and holiday villages of all sizes, spread all over the country: in the heart of nature, by the sea or near large towns, France Espaces Naturistes set up the www.naturisme.fr portal in 2002, the first communication medium for the general public.
The site www.naturisme.fr is strengthened each year by the addition of new naturist addresses.
Since 2009, France Espaces Naturistes has brought together more than 35 establishments located throughout France, representing around 60% of the naturist business in France. It was also in 2009 that FEN officially changed its name to ‘Fédération des Espaces Naturistes’ (Federation of Naturist Spaces), to become a tool even better adapted to the realities of the profession, attentive to its specific features and to changes in holidaymaker behaviour.
The Fédération des Espaces Naturistes is thus becoming a collective for reflection and analysis in terms of communication and representation of a profession with strong economic potential, know-how and real efficiency.
All our campsites comply with the FEN naturism charter.
What is naturism?
Naturism is a philosophy of life, a way of reconnecting with our natural state and, by extension, with nature. Communal nudity eliminates social barriers and encourages social mixing. Very different from nudism, naturism has nothing to do with any form of voyeurism, and nudist locations are not meeting places either. There is no possible ambiguity.

Walking unclothed along a pinewood or forest path, a powerful sense of freedom emanates from this state of being.
Naturism by the sea offers major health benefits, allowing the sun to reach every part of your body and storing up vitamin D in profusion. Naturism at sea means enjoying the caress of the cool, invigorating water on your skin as you swim in the sea.
Naked, the elements of nature no longer have the same impact on our sensations, whether it's the sun, the air, the water, the grass or the sand beneath our feet.

Most of our sites are equipped with spas, relaxing baths or whirlpools, and offer massages or ‘well-being’ activities (yoga, mud baths, etc.) to help you regain the freedom of body and mind and recharge your batteries.
